AAC & Arts Everywhere Day Exhibition Open Call

The UNC Asian American Center and Arts Everywhere are collaborating on an arts exhibition on April 8, 2022. The exhibition is open to all UNC undergrad/grad students interested in Asian/Pacific Islander American experiences.

The theme of Arts Everywhere Day 2022 is “Grounded Growth”, which is meant to represent the growth that the past two years have warranted for everyone. For this exhibition AAC is asking students to submit work related to personal, professional, and/or communal growth relevant to Asian/Pacific Islander American experiences.

Any 2D or 3D mediums are welcome (drawing, painting, sculpture, wood working, photography, etc.). However, to show as many students’ work as possible, we ask that pieces be no more than 24inx24in. We’re happy to consider larger pieces with a detailed proposal and explanation. We encourage pieces that can be displayed outdoors as well!

Students are encouraged to submit finished artworks or proposals for work that they will complete for the exhibition. Group collaborations are also encouraged. Each submission will propose a budget of up to $50 per student (e.g., if 3 students collaborate on a piece and submit one proposal, they may ask for up to $150). Pieces should be matted or framed and ready for display. Materials needed for display may be included in the proposed budget.

The AAC is also interested in having long-term displays of UNC student artwork; if you’re interested, please let us know on the last page of the application form.

Submissions will be accepted until 11:59pm on Monday, February 28th 2022.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Isabel Lu (iisabell@email.unc.edu).
